Where it comes from
Nut toffees are a British tradition tied to Christmas, when brazil nuts, walnuts and hazelnuts were an annual treat that arrived in the shops in December. Putting them into toffee was a way of making them last, and the combination became a permanent fixture in sweet shops rather than a seasonal one.
What it's made of
Glucose syrup, sugar, sweetened condensed milk and butter boiled to a chewy toffee with Brazil nuts stirred through before it sets.
