Where it comes from
Yorkshire mixtures come from the sweet making trade of Yorkshire, where confectioners in Halifax, Leeds and Sheffield made boiled sweets in large volumes. Mixing the shapes together was a way of selling everything a factory made in one bag, and the mixture became a regional speciality in its own right.
What it's made of
Several batches of boiled sugar and glucose syrup in different flavours and colours, some pulled, some striped, some moulded as fish or cushions, then mixed.
