What it is
A soft stick of black liquorice with a stripe of pale, sweet fondant through the middle, cut into short lengths so the pattern shows. Despite the name there is no cream or milk in it.
Taste
Where it comes from
Rock making is a British seaside craft, where a large cylinder of sugar is built up with lettering or patterns inside and then pulled down to a fraction of its size, preserving the design. Liquorice cream rock uses the same technique with a filled centre instead of lettering.
What it's made of
Cane sugar molasses, sugar and wheat flour with glucose syrup, wheat and modified potato starch, liquorice extract, coconut fat, pork gelatine and colours E120, E150c and E160a.
