Taste

Where it comes from
Liquorice boiled sweets sit between the Pontefract liquorice industry and the northern English boiled sweet trade. The twist shape comes from the same hand pulling technique as barley sugar and humbugs, and the black colour comes from vegetable carbon rather than the liquorice itself.
What it's made of
Sugar and glucose syrup boiled hard with liquorice flavouring, coloured with vegetable carbon, pulled and twisted before cutting.
