Where it comes from
Flavoured fudge is a recent British phenomenon. Traditional fudge was vanilla, chocolate or clotted cream and nothing else, and the explosion of dessert and biscuit flavours came with the rise of independent fudge makers from the 2000s onwards, who needed something to stand out with. The Jammie Dodger itself was launched by Burton's in 1960.
What it's made of
A fudge made on a soya drink base with a raspberry jam flavour and pieces of wholemeal wheat and oat biscuit, which contains whey from milk, folded in before setting.
