Where it comes from
The Daim bar, known as Dime in Britain for many years, is Swedish, launched in 1953 by Marabou. Its almond caramel centre is made by a process that produces a very hard brittle caramel, which is why it shatters rather than chews, and it is one of the few Scandinavian sweets to become a British staple.
What it's made of
A fudge made on a soya drink base with a butter toffee style flavouring and a dark chocolate flavour coating. The toffee is a flavouring, so there are no almond pieces and no milk in the recipe.
