Taste

Where it comes from
Candy floss was invented in 1897 by a dentist, William Morrison, and a confectioner, John Wharton, who built the first electric spinning machine and sold it at the 1904 St Louis World's Fair as Fairy Floss. The flavour is essentially pure sugar with a vanilla note, which is why it is used to signal fairgrounds rather than any particular taste.
What it's made of
A nougat style fudge of icing sugar, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, glucose syrup, gelatine and cornflour, flavoured with candy floss and coloured pink. Not suitable for vegetarians.
