Taste

Where it comes from
The vanilla slice, or mille feuille, is French in origin and became a British bakery staple in the twentieth century. Layered fudges are a modern attempt to copy patisserie in a sweet shop format, and they sell on how they look in the slab as much as how they taste.
What it's made of
A layer of nougat made with glucose, palm kernel oil, icing sugar and gelatine, set against a custard flavoured fudge made on a soya drink base, topped with white and dark chocolate flavour coatings. The white coating contains milk.
