Where it comes from
Salt water taffy comes from Atlantic City in the 1880s and is still made by pulling, a process that stretches and folds the sugar for up to twenty minutes to work air into it. Taffy Town in Utah is one of the last large scale makers using the traditional method.
What it's made of
Corn syrup, sugar and coconut oil with sea salt, egg whites, evaporated milk and malic acid, cooked then pulled on a machine to aerate it.
