What it is

Where it comes from
The lollipop on a stick is much older than most people think, with claims going back to the seventeenth century, but the modern machine made version comes from America in the early 1900s. The stick turns a boiled sweet into something a child can hold, which stops sticky fingers and makes it last longer.

Sugar and glucose syrup boiled hard, flavoured and coloured, deposited onto sticks and cooled.
