Where it comes from
Mintoes are a British sweet of the twentieth century, sitting between a toffee and a mint. The combination of dairy richness and peppermint follows the same logic as an after dinner mint, and they were traditionally sold loose from jars by the quarter.
What it's made of
Sugar, glucose syrup, treacle and vegetable fat boiled to a chewy toffee and flavoured with peppermint.
