Where it comes from
Ribbon candy is a nineteenth century American and European Christmas tradition, made by pulling hot sugar into a thin sheet and crimping it into waves before it cools. It was originally hung on Christmas trees, and the surviving makers still produce it by hand because machines struggle with the folding.
What it's made of
Sugar, corn syrup and organic palm oil boiled hard, striped, rolled into a thin ribbon and crimped into waves while still hot.
