Some sweets are made to be looked at first. Mini Ribbon Candy is thin hard candy folded back and forth into a wavy ribbon, glassy and brittle, in peppermint, cinnamon and clove flavours, with a clean snap. Let it melt and it lasts ages. Crunch it and it shatters beautifully.
It's the genuine US made version of a sweet Americans have been putting in Christmas dishes for over a century. Each ribbon carries a coloured stripe along its length, and part of that colour comes from vegetable juice.
It belongs in a gift jar or a bowl on the side at Christmas. Pair it with Pear Drops and Sherbet Lemons for a boiled sweet selection.
