Where it comes from
Aniseed jellies are a British sweet shop survival from the era when aniseed was one of the most common flavours in confectionery, used in everything from balls to twists to jellies. The flavour has fallen out of fashion with children but remains a steady seller with older customers.
What it's made of
Sugar, glucose syrup, maize starch and beef gelatine with aniseed oil, coloured with fruit and vegetable concentrates including blackcurrant, carrot and spirulina.
