A small firm gummy bear in five colours and fruit flavours, chewier and less sticky than most modern gummies. The original and still the benchmark everything else is measured against.

Where it comes from
Hans Riegel of Bonn founded Haribo in 1920 and in 1922 made the Dancing Bear, a fruit gum shaped like the trained bears that performed at German street fairs and festivals. It was renamed the Gold Bear after the Second World War and became the most copied sweet in the world. Haribo's name is simply the first two letters of Hans, Riegel and Bonn.
What it's made of
Glucose syrup, sugar and gelatine with fruit juice concentrates, deposited into starch moulds, dried for several days to get the firmness right, then glazed with beeswax and carnauba wax.
