Where it comes from
Novelty moulded chocolate shapes were a staple of the British penny counter through the twentieth century, and the fish and chips version is a piece of national self parody that has outlived most of its competitors. It sits alongside chocolate tools, chocolate mice and chocolate frogs in the same tradition.
What it's made of
A compound coating of sugar, vegetable fat, whey powder and wheat flour deposited into small moulds and cooled.
