Where it comes from
Sweden's pick and mix culture, lördagsgodis or Saturday sweets, comes from a 1950s public health campaign that encouraged people to limit sweets to one day a week. It worked so well that it became a national tradition, and Swedish sweets developed a distinct style, firmer, less sweet and more sour than British ones.
What it's made of
Glucose syrup, sugar and modified maize starch with lactic, malic and citric acid and a pectin gelling agent, flavoured with cherry.
