A skull that tastes of strawberries and cream is a strange idea, and it works. Skull Crushers are small, firm, pink skulls with a milky, sweet strawberry flavour that gets creamier as they soften in your mouth. There's a proper bite to them at first, then they melt down into something closer to a strawberry fondant.
They're made by Hannah's, the novelty sweet specialists, and the pink comes from carmine rather than a synthetic dye. The whey powder in the recipe is what gives them that creamy edge, so this is one of the few skull shaped sweets that actually tastes like a dessert.
They're a Halloween staple, but they hold their own all year. Mix them with Jelly Filled Skulls, Dracula Teeth and Gummy Bones for a spooky bag.
Made without gelatine, but coloured with carmine (E120). Contains milk and wheat (gluten).
