There is a small amount of real fruit juice concentrate in the recipe, from apple, apricot, peach, cherry, blackcurrant, lemon, lime and more, and the colours come from paprika and turmeric extracts rather than anything from a lab. That is why the shades run amber, gold and red rather than neon.
They belong in a traditional tin with Barley Sugar, Pear Drops and Sherbet Fruits, and they are the sweet to keep for a long train journey or a grandparent who remembers them from a paper bag.
Made without gelatine, suitable for vegetarians.
