A lime sweet with chocolate inside should not work, and yet. Chocolate Limes are a hard, sharp, grass green lime shell that you crunch or suck through to a soft, powdery chocolate flavour centre, and the moment the two meet is the whole reason they exist.
The centre is made with cocoa powder, whey and a little palm kernel oil, which is why it goes soft rather than staying hard, and the shell gets its bite from citric acid. The sweet most often bought by people who claim not to like sweets.
They go with West Indian Limes for a lime heavy bag, with Pear Drops for a classic pairing, or Humbugs for the traditional tin. A grown up sweet with a childish grin.
Made without gelatine, suitable for vegetarians. Contains milk and soya. May contain traces of gluten. Contains the colour E102, which may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.
