Where it comes from

Fruit Salads were introduced by Barratt in the 1920s and became one of the two great British penny chews alongside Black Jacks. For decades they were four for a penny, and the price rising to two for a penny in the 1970s is a memory a lot of people share. Barratt was later absorbed into Trebor Bassett and the sweet is still made today.

What it's made of

Glucose syrup, sugar and beef gelatine with modified potato starch, coloured with lutein, vegetable carbon, paprika extract, carmine, chlorophyll and curcumin, then glazed with carnauba wax. Not suitable for vegetarians.
