Extrusion

One rope, a dozen products.

The story

Extrusion pushes a soft sweet mixture through a shaped opening, producing a continuous rope that is then cut, wound or twisted. It is how liquorice wheels, pencils, belts and ropes are all made, and it is why they are all essentially the same product in different lengths. Co extrusion pumps a second mixture through the middle, which is how a pencil gets its fondant centre.
