What it is
A chewy strawberry rope with a soft fondant centre. Sweet, fruity and the version most people picture when they hear the word pencil.
Taste
Where it comes from
Strawberry is the dominant flavour in the filled pencil category across Europe, and the format has been made in Spain and Italy for decades. British pick and mix took to them quickly because they are long, which makes a bag look full, and sweet, which makes children come back.
What it's made of
A soft candy rope of glucose fructose syrup, sugar and wheat flour with an apple juice concentrate, co extruded around a fondant filling flavoured with strawberry.
