Where it comes from
Moulded chocolate novelties became possible once tempering and moulding were industrialised in the nineteenth century, and the animal shapes were aimed squarely at children. The frog is one of the oldest and most consistently produced shapes in British penny confectionery, and it got an unexpected second life through the Harry Potter books.
What it's made of
A compound coating of sugar, palm oil, whey powder, wheat flour and fat reduced cocoa powder with soya lecithin, deposited into a frog mould, cooled and demoulded.
