Bubblegum flavour

A flavour with no original.

The story

Bubblegum is not one flavour but a blend, usually built from banana, strawberry, cherry and a touch of wintergreen. It exists because Walter Diemer, an accountant at the Fleer company in Philadelphia, was experimenting with gum recipes in 1928 and produced a batch that could be blown into bubbles. He coloured it pink because that was the only food colouring in the factory that day, and every manufacturer since has copied him.
