Jelly Babies are the soft, chunky, baby shaped jellies with a fine powdery dusting, and they're a gentler eat than a gummy: tender, slightly yielding, with a big fruity flavour that fills your mouth rather than fighting it. Each colour is its own fruit.
These are Barratt's, one of the two great jelly baby dynasties, and the version you'll find in most decent pick n mix. The colours come from carmine, curcumin, vegetable carbon and safflower and spirulina concentrates, and the dusting is starch rather than sugar, which is why they don't stick together in the bag.
They go in every mix. Wine Gums and Jelly Beans alongside them make a jelly lover's bag, and Dolly Mixtures turn it into a proper traditional paper bag.
Contains beef gelatine, so not suitable for vegetarians.
