Humbugs (Sugar Free) sound like a contradiction, and then you try one. Hard, striped and cool, with the buttery, slightly toffee note under the mint that a proper humbug should have. They start glassy, then soften into a short chew at the very end if you have the patience.
These are sweetened with isomalt and maltitol instead of sugar, and made with real butter and milk powder, which is where that mellow, rounded finish comes from. The stripes are coloured with burnt sugar syrup, nothing artificial.
They belong in a sugar free mix with Sugar Free Sherbet Lemons, Mintoes Sugar Free and Sugar Free Devon Toffee, and they are the one to keep in the glovebox. A few at a time is the sensible way with any sugar free sweet.
Made without gelatine, suitable for vegetarians. Contains milk and soya. Contains isomalt and maltitol, so excessive consumption may have a laxative effect.
