The name makes no sense and the sweet makes perfect sense. Cow Tales are chewy caramel tubes with a soft, creamy white centre running through the middle, so every bite gives you a firm caramel chew and then a smooth cream filling. There's real cream and skimmed milk in the recipe, which is why the centre tastes the way it does.
They're the genuine US made version, an American shop counter regular since the 1980s that most people over here only find in import shops. These are the mini size, so you get more in your bag.
Pair them with Tootsie Roll and Charleston Chew for a proper American chew bag, or with Creamy Toffee for a caramel one.
