Every playground had someone wearing one. Candy Necklaces are small, chalky, pastel beads of fruity sweet strung on an elastic cord, made to be worn, chewed off one at a time and stretched back to your mouth when you got desperate. The beads are firm and crumbly, with a gentle tangy fruit flavour.
They're made by Kingsway, and the design hasn't needed changing. The beads come in pink, yellow, blue, green and orange, and there's an odd satisfaction in the pattern you leave behind when you eat all the pinks first.
Party bags are the obvious home, but they're brilliant in a retro mix with ABC Letters, Dolly Mixtures and Flying Saucers.
Made without gelatine, so suitable for vegetarians. Contains the colours E129, E102 and E110, which may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children. May contain traces of gluten, milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts and soya.
