Barley sugar is one of those sweets that never needed improving, so nobody has. This is the same amber boiled sweet with the same gentle lemony warmth, hard and glassy at first, slowly dissolving into something smooth and mellow on the tongue. The only difference is what's missing: the sugar, and the gelatine that was never in it anyway.
It's sweetened with isomalt and sucralose instead of sugar, and coloured with paprika extract, which is where that deep golden glow comes from.
Pair it with Sugar Free Sherbet Lemons and Sugar Free Garden Fruits for a full sugar free retro bag, or sit it next to the regular Barley Sugar and see if anyone can tell the difference.
