Where it comes from
Tongue painters have been a British children's novelty since the 1990s, and the star is one of several shapes the range comes in. The appeal is entirely social, the sweet exists to be shown to someone else.
What it's made of
Sugar, glucose fructose syrup and water with pork and beef gelatine, maize starch, citric acid and colours E100, E120 and E133 with safflower extract.
