What it is
A ring gummy with a heavy sour coating, in several colours and fruit flavours. Properly sour rather than just tangy, and one of the sweets people dare each other with.
Taste

Where it comes from
The extreme sour category began in America in the 1990s with brands built entirely around how much sourness a person could take, and British pick and mix adopted the softer end of it. Sour hoops sit in the middle of that range, sour enough to notice, not sour enough to hurt.
What it's made of
A gum base of glucose syrup, sugar and gelatine, moulded as rings, then coated in sugar carrying citric and malic acid. The acid level in the coating is what separates a tangy sweet from a sour one.
