Where it comes from
Novelty animal moulds multiplied through the twentieth century because a new mould was cheap while a new recipe was not. The pig, the mouse, the frog and the cow are all the same confection wearing different clothes, which is one of the oldest economies in the sweet trade.
What it's made of
A compound coating of sugar, palm oil, whey powder and wheat flour coloured pink, deposited into a pig mould.
