What it is
A firm striped fruit chew in a wrapper, chewier and more resistant than most British chews, with a sharp fruit flavour. German, and it shows in the density.
Taste

Where it comes from
Maoam was created in Germany in 1930 by Edmund Munster, and the name comes from the first letters of a German phrase meaning Munster's sweetest speciality. Haribo acquired the brand in 1986 and it is now sold across Europe. The striped version, with two or three fruit flavours in one chew, is the best known.
What it's made of
Sugar, glucose syrup and palm fat worked into a firm chew with gelatine, flavoured and coloured in separate batches then laminated together to produce the stripes.
