This is two sweets in one. Watermelon Sandwich is a layer of soft, juicy watermelon jelly sandwiched between two thin strips of red and green chew, the whole thing rolled in a sour sugar dusting. You get the sharp coating first, then the jelly gives way and the chew holds it all together.
Made by Vidal in Spain, who build it layer by layer like a little construction project, with colours from blackcurrant, carrot, curcumin, carmine and blue. The watermelon is the sweet shop kind, a flavouring rather than juice, so don't expect seeds.
It belongs in a watermelon themed bag with Watermelon Slices, Jelly Sandia and Melon Slices, each of which does the flavour a slightly different way. Or use it as the odd one out in a sour mix, because nobody expects a sandwich in a sweet bag.
