Sour Sparks are Haribo doing sour, which means the sour is sharp but the sweet underneath is proper Haribo chew. Each little gummy comes rolled in sour sugar that hits first, then the fruit flavour comes through as you chew, and the two balance out by the end.
Haribo colour these with fruit and plant concentrates, aronia, blackcurrant, grape, lemon, orange, safflower and spirulina, rather than artificial colours, and they're set without gelatine. The sourness comes from a mix of citric, tartaric and malic acids, which is what gives it that layered sharpness rather than a single flat hit.
Put them with Sour Hoops, Fizzy Snakes and Sour Watermelon Bears for a bag that makes people pull faces, or use them to cut through a bag that's gone too sweet.
Made without gelatine, so suitable for vegetarians.
