Jelly Love Hearts do one job and do it well. These are small, soft, glossy jellies in the shape of a heart, in pink and red, with a mild sweet fruit flavour and a gentle chew that gives straight away. Nothing complicated, just a sweet that says what it means.
The recipe is a short one, and there's no gelatine in it: the set comes from maize starch, and the pink and red come from anthocyanins rather than a synthetic colour. That makes them one of the few heart shaped jellies that a vegetarian can have.
They belong on a wedding sweet table with Gummy Hearts and Mini Heart Marshmallows, or in a Valentine's bag with Triple Layer Love Hearts. Also useful for apologies.
Made without gelatine, so suitable for vegetarians. Not suitable for children under 36 months.
