What it is
A soft, chewy two tone cola bottle, brown at one end and creamy white at the other, rolled in fizzy sugar. It is set with starch instead of gelatine, so it is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Where it comes from
Cola flavoured gums appeared in Germany in the 1920s, shaped like the bottles the drink came in, and the fizzy version followed once sweet makers found that sugar mixed with food acids gave the same tingle as carbonation. Vegan versions grew quickly in Britain through the 2010s, using starch in place of gelatine, and the cola bottle was one of the first classics to be remade that way.
What it's made of
Sugar, glucose syrup and wheat starch with modified maize and potato starches, lactic, malic and citric acid, sodium malates and caramel syrup. No gelatine.
