Where it comes from
Mars has changed the M&M colour mix repeatedly since 1941, dropping red for a decade in the 1970s over a dye scare that did not even involve the dye they used, and replacing tan with blue after a global vote in 1995. Purple was voted in as a permanent colour in 2022, the first new colour in nearly thirty years.
What it's made of
A milk chocolate centre panned with sugar syrup, coloured purple with a blend of blue and red dyes, polished and printed.
