What it is
A three dimensional gummy cupcake with a moulded swirl of icing on top, in two or three colours.

Where it comes from
Food shaped sweets are a permanent category, and the cupcake arrived on the wave of cupcake mania that swept Britain and America in the 2000s, driven by television baking shows and dedicated cupcake shops.
What it's made of
Glucose syrup, sugar and gelatine with sorbitol, citric and malic acid, titanium dioxide for the white, moulded in multiple colours and glazed.
